A great game of rugby of which the boys who took part can be proud. Report Written By Innes Mitchell.

A terrific game of rugby in which Caithness redeemed themselves after a poor performance against Deeside the previous week. The coaches had been eagerly awaiting this fixture to show the league leaders that they were not there, to make up the numbers. The boys were told in no uncertain terms that they must front up and not let the shirt down, to which they responded in the way we knew they could.
Caithness played into the wind in the first half taking the game to Highland, with the front row of Gunn, MacAuley and Ryder regularly breaching the gain line ably supported by the second and back rows of which Grant Anderson was a leading light taking what he had learned from the training ground onto the park.
Highland scored two first half tries and turned round twelve points to the good. Caithness with the wind at their backs started to eat into the Highland lead with tries from Shaun Gunn from close range and a long range rumble from William Steven knocking players out the way as he headed to the line. The conversions were narrowly missed in the windy conditions by Jamie Mowat who had an excellent game at stand-off regularly crossing the gain line and beating his opposite number.
After the second Caithness try, Highland went back to their experienced players and ran the show as Caithness tired in the last 15 minutes, further scores put an unfair reflection on the final score.
A great game of rugby of which the boys who took part can be proud. More of the same in the second half of the season.
